VACANCY NOTICE
The Government of Mongolia and the Government of Australia have partnered for the second phase of the Australia Mongolia Extractives Program (AMEP 2) to assist Mongolia to sustainably manage its resource-led growth.
AMEP 2 is funded by the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and implemented by Adam Smith International. The intended end of program outcome of AMEP 2 is to improve the enabling environment for investment in the extractives sector that is essential to future growth.
Adam Smith International is seeking the services of a qualified, Mongolian national Geologist to
prepare geological report abstracts and enter them into Mongolia’s Geological Catalogue system
(MonGeoCat) for the Mineral Resources and Petroleum Authority of Mongolia (MRPAM).

Key Tasks:
• To prepare English and Mongolian abstracts of geological reports held in the Geological
Archive
• A rough estimation for daily output is 3- 4 abstracts
• Provide brief weekly progress reports, including number and title of documents that have
been processed, problems encountered, and suggestions for system improvement (e.g.
metadata keywords)
• To create spatial references for maps (index maps) as necessary
• Submit key deliverables in English and Mongolian languages
Required Skills and Experiences:
• Bachelor or master’s degree in Geology
• Good Russian and English language skills
• Intermediate ArcGIS knowledge and usage skills
• Excellent team member, cross cultural working skills
Terms of the Assignment:
The assignment requires full-time input from October 2019 to September 2020. The Geologist will be based at the MRPAM office.
